Welcome to my blog. I write about food and drink at home in Dorset and on my travels. Happy reading!

Grazing with The Ginger and Pickle

Grazing with The Ginger and Pickle

Victoria Smith’s interest in good food and styling began when she worked alongside fabulous chefs in luxury ski chalets in the French Alps and on superyachts around the Mediterranean. She ended up in Melbourne – Australia’s foodie city – for four years and loved the relaxed dining they do so well.

Back in her hometown of Poole, Victoria launched The Ginger and Pickle in June 2020, offering styled grazing tables, boards and boxes to Dorset and the South Coast. As well as looking incredible, they are full of delicious cheeses, charcuterie, antipasto, seasonal fruit and vegetables, dried fruit, pretzels, nuts, crackers and chutney (and seasonal variations).

Although the business has never known ‘normal times’ and social dining has largely been a no-go since the business started, Victoria has enjoyed delivering lockdown birthday boxes and care packages. She says:

“It’s nice to put a smile on people's faces during tough times.”

She is looking forward to a time when she can cater for garden parties and weddings, and to customers picnicking on their boats and the beach. And as post-lockdown life is likely to involve a lot of social sharing and fun times, I think the future is bright for The Ginger and Pickle.
