From upcycled food waste to organic skincare

From upcycled food waste to organic skincare

It’s not often I stray into a post about skincare, but I’ve been so impressed by UpCircle that I thought it churlish not to share. After an appearance on Dragon’s Den in 2018, sibling co-founders Will and Anna have been working hard to build the brand. The company makes natural, sustainable skincare products for all skin types that are:

  • Made in UK

  • 100% natural

  • Vegan and cruelty-free

  • Palm-oil free

  • Plastic negative

The part that I find most fascinating is how they reuse ingredients that would otherwise go to waste. It started with coffee grounds and has expanded to include just about every by-product you can think of – olive stones left over from the production of olive oil, apricot stones discarded in the production of fruit oils and unwanted blueberries from the juicing industry. Other repurposed ingredients include maple bark, chai spices, date seeds, chamomile stems, argan shells and fruit waters. They even save flower petals discarded by florists and wedding venues. What a fantastic idea!

Thanks to Ruby at Organically Ageless for introducing me to this wonderful range of products. They are more than just a quirky idea and a sustainable solution - the skincare is really effective. Highly recommended!
