Diary of the Ration Challenge: Day 3

Diary of the Ration Challenge: Day 3

Lastnight I dreamt that someone asked to share my Toblerone, and although I said yes, I felt extremely put out about it. Do you think my unconscious mind wants chocolate?

I was so hungry this morning and I needed energy to keep up with my 2-year-old all day, so had to have breakfast. I was going to make crepes, but didn’t have enough flour left in my rations. Instead I ate up the rest of my “rice pudding” from Sunday. It was much better this time around - I reheated it with a touch of cinnamon and a pinch of my 2 teaspoon sugar allowance. I also had a much-appreciated cup of tea.

I also went off meal plan for lunch, as didn’t leave enough time to prepare my fried rice. So instead I had a flatbread with the last of the dough I made yesterday. I heated a few kidney beans in a tiny amount of my tinned tomatoes, and used it as a dip. It was quite delicious, just not substantial enough to properly fill me up.

Tea was plain rice and a lentil and kidney bean burger. Although it looks quite tasty, things are really quite bland without onion, garlic and spices. I’m also properly bloated - constipated if you don’t mind too much information! I’m really missing fruit. This weather makes me crave watermelon and strawberries, not stodge.

By tomorrow lunchtime, I’ll be halfway through the challenge and I’ll be celebrating by cracking open those bad boy sardines. Can’t wait. It’s going to be like a flavour party in my mouth.

How much I’ve raised: £1,206
