Welcome to my blog. I write about food and drink at home in Dorset and on my travels. Happy reading!

The Paddle, Highcliffe's finest

The Paddle, Highcliffe's finest

In the four years I’ve lived in Highcliffe, I’ve waited patiently for the high street to go the way of Southbourne. Seriously, all it would take is one ale house. Despite a couple of gems, we’ve got some way to go. So thank HEAVENS for The Paddle. It is one of those independent places that is consistently brilliant.

They serve delicious home made food and Bad Hand Coffee in laid-back, twinkly surroundings. All meat is from Chris Watson Butchers (another gem on the high street), free range eggs are from Noah’s Ark Farm in Ashley, cow’s milk is from Meggy Moos Dairy in Dorchester and bread is from Bread Port in New Milton. It is child-friendly, dog-friendly and well, just friendly.

I’m very excited about their Supper Clubs throughout the year, from vegan to jerk BBQ nights. See the full calendar here, and if you are interested make sure you book quickly. See you there?
