Pasta Evangelists food parcel
I am known for being a feeder. I’m of the opinion that when someone is down or having a rough time, a well-placed delivery of homemade brownies or a lasagne can really hit the spot. In these lockdown times I’m too far away to deliver food parcels, but I still want to show people I’m thinking of them. In particular, my sister-in-law who is working all hours as a key worker as her whole team has gone off with Covid. I thought it would be a small help to have dinner sorted when she gets home from a long day.
I’d heard good things about Pasta Evangelists - I mean, what’s not to love about a delivery of everything you need (freshly made pasta, a sauce and a garnish) to prepare a top-notch pasta dish in under five minutes? You can subscribe for regular deliveries or just order once. It was easy to order from the website, where there are up to 15 choices on the weekly menu - including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. If you choose a double rather than a single portion, you save 15%.
In two separate deliveries, I sent my sis-in law:
Pappardelle with Beef Shin & Barolo Wine Ragù
Tortelloni all'Amatriciana with a Sage Butter Sauce
"Carbonara of Dreams" with Fresh Bucatini & Crispy Pancetta
Orecchiette with Sicily's Pistachio Pesto
First of all, she cried because she was so grateful and it was a huge help. Then she nearly cried when she tried the Pappardelle with Beef Shin & Barolo Wine Ragù because it was so good. She said the portions were large and “it was very posh-looking.” (Prue Leith calls it “unashamedly top-end”, which I love). It came with a nice little book of authentic Italian dishes, with a written history of each.
